“OFFER PRAISES TO THE LORD”

The Gospel according to Luke (17:13) narrates the encounter of the Lord with ten lepers while Jesus was passing through Samaria.

The lepers, standing afar, screamed on top of their voices: “Jesus, Master have mercy on us.” He asked them to exercise their faith by showing themselves to the priest. And one of them came back to give Him thanks when they discovered they had been cleansed on the way (vs.15).

Ministering at the last session of Thursday Showers, Pastor Taiwo explained that the above story illustrates that he who offers praises glorifies God. He also reminded the congregation that the greatest Psalmist (David) fought so many battles and won through an attitude of worship. Like David, Pastor Taiwo counselled every believer to strive to constantly offer praises to God. He observed that the only battles David lost were the ones in which he rebelled against God.

When Jesus was leaving after resurrection, He made a charge to us to “Go into the world and make disciples of all creatures.” Pastor Taiwo reminded the congregation of this great commission while ministering on Sunday.

According to him, somebody that these were Jesus’ parting words. He noted that the disciples were empowered after resurrection and were sent to preach to all nations.

He observed that our attitude goes a long way in preaching to the unsaved. He said, “Even when we don’t talk to them, our character preaches to them.”

Pastor Taiwo enjoined members of the congregation to set their priorities right and obey Jesus’ command.
