Sharing from the promise for the week in Psalm 28:7, Pastor Nomthi in her words of encouragement to the Church at the October 13 Sunday service reminded believers that God has their back covered or protected from harm. “Something could have happened to you but look where you are now. You are here praising the Lord because He is your strength and shield,” she stated.
She told them that God would not just say He is the believer’s strength if there was nothing trying to make them weak physically or spiritually. But the assurance is that God protects His own in both realms and ensures they are helped and strong enough to face their challenges, she said.
Pastor Nomthi pointed out that no matter how many fiery darts the devil may throw at God’s children, “when your heart trusts in God, you will surely receive help from God as He is a shield for you”.
PASTOR NOMTHI’S WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AT THURSDAY SHOWERS
Pastor Nomthi at the October 10 Thursday Showers service shared from Mark 4:35-37, and asked the congregation not to feel discouraged or despondent when faced or hit with the storms of life because Jesus is with them. She told them that people, including believers, go through different storms of life just like Jesus and His disciples did in the reference scripture. When they called on Jesus however, she said, He calmed the storm and there was peace. But that did not remove the fact that there was still some residue of water from the sea in the boat until they got to their destination, she added.
She stated that, as believers, Jesus might have calmed the storm in our lives but there could still be some residues of the storm which we carry around. “Sometimes, when people see you, they can tell you went through a storm in life,” she said. But once the storm has been calmed, she urged them to be deliberate in cleaning out any residues in their lives by praising, worshipping and praying. “You will praise and pray till your ‘boat’ is dry,” she said.
