Pastor Rotimi Okpaise @ Sunday First Service
Believers ought always to be confident and unshakable in the Word of God. Whatever the circumstances are, as long as Christ lives in you, He will always lead you to green pastures. These were the words of Pastor Rotimi Okpaise at the December 1 Sunday first service.
Speaking on the topic ‘Our Confidence’, Pastor Okpaise enjoined believers not to allow the issues of life affect or rattle them but to rather let their confidence be in the Word of God. Giving an instance from the scripture in Matthew 14:22-33 when Jesus asked Peter to walk on water with Him in spite of the storm, Pastor Okpaise noted that Jesus wants His children (believers) to be a part of every miracle He does in their lives. “Whilst Jesus performs miracles in your life, He wants you to be a part of it. Jesus wants you to do the impossible together with Him,” he said.
He then cautioned against taking our eyes off Jesus as this would shake our confidence in Him, just as it happened to Peter on that occasion. “Taking your eyes off Him will only bring problems. Remove all fears and doubts. God wants you to have big faith and belief; that is our confidence,” he noted.
“MAKING THE WORD FLESH”
Pastor Mary Fayemi @ Sunday Second Service
At the December 1 second service, Pastor Mary Fayemi took her opening scripture from John 1:1-4. She stated that at creation God saw the fact of the state of the earth but chose to speak forth the truth, which was what he wanted to see. And being children of God and having the same nature with God, she urged believers to do likewise by speaking order into any chaos in their lives.
She added that, as believers, we are engaged in an ongoing battle and it is with words we wage our war and win every battle we face. She noted however that we tend to take lightly our words because we use words daily.
Pastor Fayemi explained that because of who we are as described in Romans 8:19, when we stand to decree anything our desired change will come. She pointed out that a Christian is not meant to wait for things to take shape, but should speak it into shape. “The testimony is not that you are pregnant as a Christian but that you have the child. It is when your testimony is seen you have made the Word flesh,” she noted.
She then encouraged believers to shine in whatever state they are in, and this can only happen by constantly speaking the Word.
“THE POWER IN THE WORD”
Pastor Tayo Kujore @ Thursday Showers
Sharing personal experiences with the worshippers at the November 28 Thursday Showers service, Pastor Tayo Bayo-Kujore said that there is an activating power in the believer’s spoken words, and they would certainly reap the benefits of their declarations, especially when they understand the origin, authority and the application of such words. According to him, the surviving tactic of this present time is understanding the power of the spoken word. “The formlessness and void in your life will remain unless you speak fullness to it,” he noted.
Speaking from Ezekiel 37:1-4, Genesis 1:1-3, John 1:1-5 and Job 22:28, Pastor Kujore noted that the value of the word believers know is vital and determines their outcome, noting that the ability to settle one’s future is tied to the ability to speak positively into the future. “The ability to use the power in your tongue is vital. In impossible situations, what you speak is what will deliver you,” he said.
Likening believers’ words to a blood bank, Pastor Kujore stated that every word spoken at a particular time in their lives is kept in the ‘Word Bank’ and would defend them in the future whenever the enemy strikes, just as blood is stored in the blood bank for a future purpose. “The authority in the Word becomes manifest when you understand that the words you speak create and give life. So, watch what words you are speaking,” he admonished.
He then encouraged them never to give up on their situations or challenges, no matter how fierce it seems, but to continually speak the Word. “When you stand on His Word, you challenge His integrity,” he stated.
