Today’s Scripture: John 14:13-14
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
Have you ever faced a situation, where you were given a cheque to draw some money in the bank and you were turned back due to an irregular signature? There may also be a situation where the drawer forgets to append his signature to his cheque. The implication of this is simple: the cheque will not be honoured by the bank.
Regardless of the good intentions of the drawer, the amount of resources he has available in the bank or desperate need of the payee, the money will not be released. The interesting thing is, as it is with cashing a cheque in the bank, so it is with prayer. Let us liken our prayers to a cheque, the amount payable as our prayer request, the drawer as us and the bank as God. What do you think the signature would be? The name of Jesus. The Bible makes this clear in our opening scripture: “Ask whatever in my name.”
Jesus is the foundation of the Christian faith. His body was broken and His blood was shed on the cross for the remission of the sin of the world. Someone said, “Prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God for things agreeable to His will, in the name of Christ, with confession of our sins and thankful acknowledgment of His mercies.” The name of Jesus is available to us. The Bible assures us that heaven will answer to that name. Hell will tremble before it, and circumstances will bow to it (Philippians 2:8-11). Take the name of Jesus confidently with you in prayer today. All you need to wield that name is to be saved, and all you need to be saved is to make Jesus the Lord of your life. The Lord will come through for you, in Jesus’ name.
Memorise & Meditate:
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” John 15:16
Prayer/Confession:
Father, I thank You for the name of Jesus, which You have exalted above every other name. Today, I receive a fresh revelation of the name of Jesus. I believe my prayers are answered, in Jesus’ name.
