Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, during his ministration at the December 17 Sunday service, stated that believers have been given power and authority in Christ. He added that they need to recognise and use that authority as they embark upon the journey of life. He emphasised that principalities and powers acknowledge the authority and power that the children of God are filled with but would take advantage of any Christian who is unaware of the authority he or she has.
Speaking from Joshua 6:2, the senior pastor, in continuation with the message – “The Wall, The Praise, The Glory” – stated that when one has the authority of a king, one is undefeated. Just as the children of Israel could not be attacked while marching round the walls of Jericho, despite the Canaanite warriors having the advantage of height and fortification, because God had told Joshua that He had given Jericho into his hands.
The clergy further mentioned that the authority initially given to man and lost through sin was restored back to them at the point of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Linking this to the present lifestyles of believers, the man of God noted that Christians are usually weak as a result of sin, leading to them yielding their authority to the devil. This, according to him, can be handled when believers recognise their mistakes, repent, and return to their Father.
In his words, “Jesus has paid the price, so you don’t need to do life by your own strength. The devil will tell lies and hold the things you have done against you, but remind the devil that you are still a son, and nothing can separate you from the love of God, your Father.”
He therefore urged the congregation to desist from the use of contrary words to the word of God, as that would be tantamount to yielding their authority to the devil. Instead, he encouraged them to always declare the word of God boldly in response to all situations and circumstances, as everything bows to the word of God and the name of Jesus. “Speaking the word of God puts the logos of God into that situation, and you have been given authority to place a demand on the word of God,” he said.

THE GOOD SHEPHERD – 7
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Thursday showers
With an electrifying praise session and awesome testimonies of God’s faithfulness, goodness, and blessings, the December 14 Thursday Showers service was proof of God’s goodness in the lives of His children. Pastor J, while leading the worshippers in another session of praise and worship, said that God never runs out of gifts for His own. He added that they should praise God not just for what He has done but also for what He is about to do and, most importantly, for who He is.
In continuation with the series “The Good Shepherd,” the senior pastor cited Psalm 23:4 and Hebrews 4:12 to say that believers need the power of God to fulfil their purpose. This divine power, according to him, is the word of God, and it is energy over time. The clergy further noted that this energising power, which is in the word of God, is needed by believers who desire to fulfil their purpose. “The word of God is full of energy over time, and those who spend time interacting with the energy of the word receive power,” he said.
The clergy also cited Philippians 2:13 and Matthew 5:14 to say that no child of God can shine their light in the dark world with their effort. He said, “You cannot shine your light by your effort but by the energy of the God who has made you light. It is not by power or might but by His Spirit.”
Differentiating between kinetic energy and potential energy, Pastor J cited John 5:6–8 and Isaiah 40:31 to say that believers need the appropriate application of either of the energies for effective results. “You need to know the situation you’re in and what scriptures to use to address that situation. He thereafter urged them from Romans 12:2 and John 15:7 to remain in God, meditate on His word, and renew their minds, as this is when they would be able to activate the energy of God for the fulfilment of their purposes. “You cannot perfect His plans and purpose if you’re not renewing your mind daily in His word. Keep dwelling daily in Him, renew your mind, and continue to speak His energised word into every situation of your life,” he urged.
