WHAT IS LOVE -2

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service
In continuation of the series titled “What is Love,” Pastor Jimmy Odukoya told the congregation during the Sunday service on February 11 that man ought to know that God is his Source and nothing else. Speaking from Genesis 2:4-8 and using the analogy of a charging device plugged into an electric socket, the clergy emphasized that a source is where strength is drawn from. He added that there is an absolute need for constant connection to God, the Source, in order to remain in positions of supply and fulfillment. Reading from the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 8, verse 6 to buttress his point, he said that when a man realizes that God is his Source, there will be no possibility of him making his woman his source.

Distinguishing between a helper and a source, Pastor Jimmy explained that God breathed into the man and there shouldn’t be a reversal of roles, particularly for men who are comfortable with doing nothing yet demand the salaries of their wives for family upkeep. He warned that such behavior or mindset is totally flawed and at variance with God’s Word and expectations. In his words, “Anything that is used outside of what it is created for is abuse. So, any attempt to turn one’s helper into a source is abuse. It is critical to stay connected because it is God who establishes a man and puts him in the right location with an assignment or work ordained for him to engage in. Staying connected to the Source ensures the fulfillment of destiny and purpose.”

Linking the message to relationships between a man and a woman, Pastor Jimmy noted that men feel useful and fulfilled when they work, stating that a man dies when he doesn’t feel needed. He used this to advise women to desist from putting their husbands in a tough position of choosing between them and work. “Deploying emotional blackmail to force the man to make a desired choice will eventually lead to resentment in the long term,” he stated.

The man of God also told women to understand their role as helpers to their husbands, admonishing them to be of succour, assistance, and encouragement to their men. “It will be unprofitable and unscriptural to stress, buffet, and plague your man with tension in creating an atmosphere that lacks peace,” he noted.
Pastor Jimmy shifted his focus to the singles, warning of the dangers in marrying potential instead of kinetic. According to him, a purposeful man can be easily known by what he does consistently, as dreaming big is free but the hustle to achieve such is sold separately.

Earlier in the service, Pastor Tolu Odukoya shared the Promise of the Week with the church, reading from 2 Thessalonians 3:16. According to her, God’s peace surpasses any form of peace that man may have, which ranges from assurance of salary, connections to people, and having a purview of an impending examination. “God’s peace surpasses all understanding,” she said.
The Associate Senior Pastor led the Congregation in prayer for a tangible experience of the peace of God, declaring that the month will not be like the ones gone by, even as she welcomed the Holy Spirit into the service.

EXPECTATIONS- cont’d

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Thursday showers

Thursday, February 8th, was another beautiful opportunity for worshippers to gather for the Showers service, with many testimonies of God’s faithfulness. The service was full of testifiers returning glory to God for supernatural interventions. The Senior Pastor, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, while ministering to some members, said that God might appear to be delaying only for Him to act suddenly.

Making reference to his message shared a couple of weeks back on Expectation, he charged the worshippers to allow their expectations to be high during the service. “Do not allow anyone or any circumstance to stop you. Like the woman with the issue of blood, like Bartimaeus, do not be stopped until you get to the Master,” Pastor Jimmy said.

He continued, “Just make up your mind. As long as God is in the vicinity, reach out to Him. Do not look at your bank account, do not look at your situation, just reach out to Him.” Describing God as the One who never loses a battle, who sees and knows everyone’s need, who was not voted into power and cannot be impeached, and who does great and mighty things, Pastor Jimmy told his listeners to believe their matters are settled because nothing is impossible with God.

He said, “What is impossible with man is definitely possible with Him. So, shift your mindset and expectations because it is done. It doesn’t matter what the situation is; it is already done.” He therefore urged them to put their total trust in God and not in any man, stating that God is for everyone.
