Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service
In continuation of his message series, Mercy Me, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya stated at the March 10 Sunday service that God’s mercy can’t be bought or bargained for. Elaborating on the message, the clergy emphasised four types of mercy, namely:
Prevailing mercy
Encompassing mercy
Sure mercy
Great mercy
Speaking from Psalm 145:9, Matthew 5:45, Lamentations 3:22–23, and Jonah 4:1-11, Pastor Jimmy noted that prevailing mercy is available for everyone, adding that it is general for all, whether believers in Christ or unbelievers. He further explained to his listeners in Jonah 2:8 that this mercy can be forfeited when one regards or follows worthless idols. “An idol is anything that takes the place of God in someone’s life. Once you begin to follow worthless idols, you are forfeiting God’s prevailing mercy,” he said.
The second type of mercy, according to Pastor Jimmy, is the encompassing mercy that protects. He cited Psalm 32:10 and Job 1:9–10 to explain that encompassing mercy has nothing to do with one’s works or contribution. He also used Job’s story to explain that encompassing mercy protects God’s own and does not let them get consumed by the enemy. “This mercy is not because of anything you have done,” he stated.
Sure mercy is the third type, as explained by Pastor Jimmy. According to him, this mercy provides support and becomes a pillar when needed the most. Speaking from Isaiah 55:3–11, he explained that one will need to incline his or her ears to the Lord to enjoy this mercy.
The fourth mercy is the great mercy, and it is the one that establishes believers, taking them from nothing to greatness, from the back to the front. He cited 2 Chronicles 1:8; 16:19; Genesis 32:9–10; and Luke 1:57–58 to say that the great mercy of God would open doors for you that you have not worked for.
He thereafter urged his listeners to focus on the great God for His prevailing, encompassing, sure, and great mercy in the month as he ended the sermon with prophetic declarations to the congregation.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Tolu Odukoya encouraged the church from Mark 11:24, which was also the promise for the week. According to her, God is ready to answer believers as they pray, but unforgiveness is a huge mountain that would not allow other mountains before them to move. “For mountains to move is not the problem. The caveat to the promise is forgiveness. Before you speak to those mountains, check yourself to see if there is anyone you are holding in unforgiveness and let them go,” she said.
She therefore encouraged them to forgive those who have hurt them, as that is when they would be able to speak to the mountains and they would move. “Speaking to mountains and making them move would require believers to forgive. Don’t use your own hand to block your blessing through unforgiveness,” she urged.

PSALM 24-MERCY
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Thursday showers
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya maintains that only the blood of Jesus can cleanse a man and make him live a pure and holy life. He said this during his sermon at the March 7 Thursday showers while reading from the book of Psalm 24:1-4. According to the senior pastor, believers can now approach the throne of grace for mercy because of the blood of Jesus. He added that the blood of Jesus speaks for the saved at every point.
“When it comes to you—your sins, mistakes, and mess-ups—you have a high priest that has been appointed forever,” he said.
Citing Hebrews 5:3-6, Pastor J stated that believers can approach God with confidence, which helps in birthing the miraculous, adding that anywhere God’s presence is, there are blessings following it.
“He is the priest and the sacrifice all at the same time. He placed Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, and He had to shed His blood because that is the only thing that can make your hands clean and your heart pure,” he stated.
The clergy continued, “It is not soap. It is the precious blood of Jesus that washes you white as snow and throws your sin away into the sea of forgetfulness.”
Speaking further about mercy, Pastor Jimmy referred to the 24th Psalm to say that none could have approached God except such a person with clean hands. This, he said, was achieved for believers with the death of Jesus.
He therefore urged the congregation to key into the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for mercy over their lives.
