Making thankfulness a habit is a Kingdom requirement. It is natural for man to make complaining a habit, but when the Word of God dwells richly in you, by the help of the Holy Spirit, you will make thankfulness a habit. These were the words of Pastor Taiwo to the congregation at the November 19 Thanksgiving service.
Reading from Colossians 3:15-17, he stated that once there is peace, there will be thanksgiving; remove peace and you will never see the value of anything. He then admonished the church to allow the peace of God be the umpire of their lives. Just as an umpire dictates the pace of a game, they should allow the game of their life be dictated by the peace of God, he enjoined.
Noting that the first step of the devil in ruffling anyone is by taking away their peace, Pastor Taiwo urged them to allow the Word of God dwell richly in their hearts as this is the source of all peace. “Once the Word of God dwells richly in you, peace reigns and you begin to see the value of people,” he said.
He then urged the church to always look for something to be thankful for even in adverse situations.
A SESSION OF TESTIMONIES
It was an unusual Thursday Showers service on November 16 as neither Pastor Taiwo nor Nomthi Odukoya shared any message but gave some members of the congregation the opportunity to share their testimonies of God’s goodness.
Sister Tope Alabi in her testimony said she was elected for a position she never thought she could handle, but God surpassed her expectations. She was initially fearful to take up the post but God gave her a promise from Philippians 4:13. She was grateful that all through the journey, God was her shield and defence, as she had no cause to bury anyone.
Pastor Yemisi Akindolie testified of God’s faithfulness concerning her health. For the past seven years after learning to speak the Word, she has had no reason to take any medication, she said.
Mummy J testified of how God saved both her son and herself from two separate road accidents within a space of two days.
These, and many other testimonies, were shared at the service.
