COVENANT AND WORSHIP

Pastor Taiwo @ Sunday Service
Worship is neither an emotion nor a ritual. Worship is a spiritual thing and it is done by faith. These were the words of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya at the March 11 Sunday service.
Reading from John 4:1-26, Pastor Taiwo, who continued his message from the previous Thursday, noted that worship starts from the mind of every individual and thoughts are what form worship. Every human being, he said, worships something—wealth, success, fame, etc., but as people who are in a covenant with God, our worship should be to God rather than material things. Jesus, he added, is looking for true worshippers, those who would worship Him in spirit—by faith.
He then encouraged all to focus on Jesus because that is how they could see and worship Him, adding that when they are in a covenant with God, their lives would be a steady flow of worship. “The very presence of God provokes worship. Everything should remind you of worship because God initiates worship and receives it,” he said.

WORSHIP: A COVENANT THING
Pastor Taiwo @ Thursday Showers
Worshipping God in spirit and truth goes beyond the release of emotions; it is the expression of faith. The only way the physical can draw from the spirit, make impact in the spirit and bring the spirit to bear on any situation is by faith. Pastor Taiwo said this at the March 8 Thursday Showers service while admonishing the worshippers on true worship. “If it is not faith, it is not worship,” he said.
Using Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman recorded in John 4 as an illustration, he said that true worship is hinged on a relationship with Christ. This, he said, will make one’s worship attract others to have the same experience. “When you have an encounter with Him, you will worship, and this will in turn attract many to worship Him,” he stated.
He added that faith is needed to worship God; and when worship occupies one’s heart, it becomes impossible for any other thing to take over because God, the One who is being worshipped, occupies such a heart. He therefore urged them not to joke with the presence of God because that is what provokes worship. “You need His presence to be able to worship,” he said.
