Today’s Scripture: John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
“Out in front of us is the drama of men and of nations, seething, struggling, labouring, dying…but within the silences of the souls of men, an eternal drama is ever being enacted. On the outcome of this inner drama rests ultimately, the outer pageant of history.” – Thomas Kelly
Rest is impossible except we first find it within ourselves. The weight of a troubled heart eventually wears down the body. To find rest within, we must offload our worries and anxieties. This will require trusting God absolutely.
Worries and anxieties draw their strength from uncertainty. People will not worry if they are certain of the positive outcome of every event in their lives. They would be completely at rest within and without.
Well, we have an assurance that everything will work out for our good. God is for us, and nothing or anyone can effectively be against us. Let us anchor our faith on these assurances, which bear the full weight of God’s integrity, and let us be at rest within ourselves. This week, refuse to be troubled by your troubles. God is in control. Speak, like the Psalmist, to your soul, and tell it to be at ease within you. You have a mighty God who will never fail you. You are coming out strong in every situation. Your state of inner rest will confound the enemy and inspire those around you. Find rest within you, in Jesus’ name.
Memorize & Meditate:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer/Confession:
Father, I thank You for Your peace. I will not be disturbed. I will not fret. I find rest within me, in Jesus’ name.
