Nothing can be compared to the presence of Jesus; not even robbery or any hurt you’ve been through. These were the encouraging words of Pastor Nomthi Odukoya to the worshippers of the September 21 Thursday Showers service. “It doesn’t matter if the enemy stole from you, let the world take it all but don’t let them take Jesus away from you,” she said.
She used the account of Mephibosheth’s restoration after his encounter with King David as recorded in 2 Samuel 19:24-30 to illustrate that the presence of God is more than the cares of the world just as Mephibosheth chose to be with king David, dining with him, rather than acquiring acres of land.
This attitude of acknowledging the presence of God in a believer’s life, Pastor Nomthi said, would bring about total restoration of lost years just as Mephibosheth was restored. “You cannot lack anything if you are dining with the Lord. Even if you were cheated of your rightful inheritance, being in His presence alone is assurance that He will restore back to you everything you lost and more.

Reading from Ecclesiastes 3:14 which is the promise for the week, Pastor Nomthi at the September 24 Family Sunday service emphasised that God doesn’t need anyone’s approval to bless His children. According to her, God’s words over His children cannot come back to Him without fulfilling their purposes. “God doesn’t need any assistance to make His word come to pass in your life. Whatever word He has sent to you won’t go back to Him void. So believe Him.”
