Remember Me

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service

Like the bearer of a Clarion, Senior Pastor Jimmy Odukoya declared loudly to Fountaineers on Sunday, August 4, 2024, that God always remembers them.

Using Malachi 3:16-17 as the anchor scripture, the Senior Pastor impressed upon the minds of congregants the biblical truth that God will never forget them. According to him, God does not forget and cannot forget, except when He chooses to forget in certain instances as cited in Psalm 90:1-2; Isaiah 40:28; Isaiah 44:6-7; and Job 37:16.

He said, “As humans, it is easy to think of God from our level of understanding; and because we have a tendency to forget things, we may ask, ‘Does God forget?’ If God willingly forgets your sins because of the sacrifice of His Son, what makes you think that He will forget you? You are not forgotten! God knows your name.”

On the basis of that disclosure, Senior Pastor Jimmy introduced the exemptive power of the New Covenant, brokered by the blood of Jesus Christ and operationalised by the grace of God. “By the New Covenant which came into effect once the blood of Jesus Christ was shed, God can choose to forget your sins for His own sake (Isaiah 43:25) and He demonstrated that once and for all with His gift of Jesus Christ,” he said.

The Senior Pastor encouraged Fountaineers to confront life situations with courage, rooted in the understanding that God always thinks of them, would never forget them, and would always make all things work for their ultimate good. In his words, “Sometimes, God will let situations come so that you are able to face the defining moments of your life with courage and confidence in God. God has complete knowledge of you and is very particular about you. So, relax!”

He rounded off his admonition by establishing the central place of Jesus Christ in the remembrance grace of God. “When we say, ‘Remember Me,’ we are asking God to take action to fulfil a promise he had made. When we call the name of Jesus, what we are saying to God, according to His word, is ‘Remember Me,’” he said.

DIVINE REMEMBRANCE

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Thursday showers

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya has assured believers of God’s faithfulness in bringing to pass His promise for them, urging them to not give up or give in to the plot of the devil. He said this at the August 1 Thursday showers which held online. “This is the time one should not give up or give in to the plot of the devil. God is here, giving His assurance that He has not forgotten His very own,” he said.

The Senior Pastor, while welcoming his listeners to the new month, declaring it as the Month of Divine Remembrance, said that it is expected for one to fall into depression when things aren’t working out well or expectations are not met but God still has a way of remembering His own and leading them in the right way to go. He said, “It might look like things are not working out as planned and all that, but it’s only a lie of the devil, God has not forgotten you.”

Speaking from Malachi 3:16-17 and Galatians 6:9, the clergy said that God is never distracted with events to the point of forgetting His own, adding that to God, remembrance means an appointed time. He further stated that believers should not fall victims of the devil’s tactics of causing them to change their minds just at the point of a turnaround; adding that giving up or throwing in the towel should not be on their minds.

Also citing Psalms 139:1-4 and Exodus 2:24-25, Pastor Jimmy used the children of Israel’s experience in captivity for 430 years and their salvation from Pharaoh to say that remembrance is an appointed time with God and not forgetfulness. He said, “The Israelites felt they had been forgotten and abandoned, but God, at the appointed time, showed up. Remembrance to God is an appointed time, it is a set time for the fulfilment of His promises.”

He continued, “People think they are forgotten because they see delay as denial. Meanwhile God does not work within the timing of man. Though it may tarry, it shall surely come to pass. He knows the end from the beginning.”

Pastor J therefore urged his online listeners from Esther 6 to never think they are forgotten but to rather trust in God to intervene at the appointed time. He maintained, “You might be asking God why the delay but He is working something out for your good. The building process is to build up character for the days ahead and the place He is taking you to. As Abraham hoped against hope and got the promise, so also, we are encouraged to know we are being remembered by God always.”
