Soul Winning

Pastor Babatunde Ladipo @ Sunday first service

Speaking from Matthew 28:18–20, Mark 16:15–18, 2 Timothy 4:1–3, and John 3:16, Pastor Babatunde Ladipo told the congregation during the second service of the June 25 Sunday service that evangelism has seemingly become a tedious task for believers, especially in this generation.

Sharing a personal experience, he said that many believers are not bold enough to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ because there is no burning zeal within them. He went further to say that soul-winning is the greatest interest that God has on this planet. “God’s investment is measured by souls. Nothing else interests God on this planet as much as souls,” he said.

He continued, “Souls are the currency of heaven. If you want to keep currency in heaven, start investing in souls. Soul winning is the most profitable venture for the Christian.”

The clergy also read Matthew 9:35–38 and Psalm 2:8 to say that prayer is at the bedrock of soul winning and salvation, adding that believers can spend more time asking God to help them win souls through their disposition, countenance, character, smiles, voice, and relationships. He said this is a humble starting position for soul-winning.

Corroborating his statement that God needs labourers to win souls to Him, Pastor Babatunde said that salvation is for labourers and not supervisors or directors.

He also read Acts 16:13–14 and 2 Corinthians 4:1–4 to show that no believer has the power to make people receive the gospel of Jesus Christ but God, adding that constant prayer would make this happen. “You don’t have what it takes to open anybody’s heart, but when prayer becomes customary, hearts are opened, and salvation flows naturally. Your heart must be involved in salvation,” he said.

He, therefore, urged the congregation to desire to bring souls to Christ.

“WONDERS OF GOD”

Pastor Amaka Maduneme @ Sunday second service

Pastor Amaka, while preaching at the June 25 Sunday second service, said that the supernatural realm is where the wonders of God are wrought. This realm, according to the minister of God, is the birthright of believers. “We are for signs and wonders, and it is a generational thing. After we are gone, our children and generations will continue to do wonders for the Lord,” she said.

The clergy read Isaiah 8:18, John 3:16, and Isaiah 9:6 to note that becoming wonders for God is a covenant for believers. She further said that God’s love for believers is another wonder. According to her, when believers know and understand the love of God for them, they will overcome any challenge that comes their way. “For God to send His son to die for you, it means you are special, and the only reason you can be bold as a Christian is when you know and remember the love of God,” she stated.

She went further to say that the wonders of God are revealed in His forgiveness for believers, strength for the weak, sympathy for sinners, and saving grace for sinners.

She, therefore, urged her listeners to believe, receive, and meditate on the love of God for them, as this is when they will be able to walk boldly in life irrespective of whatever is going on around them.

“GROW”

Pastor Mary Fayemi @ Thursday Showers Service.

Reading from Luke 2:40–52, Pastor Mary Fayemi explained to the worshippers at the June 22 Thursday showers that believers ought to prepare themselves for what God has ordained to do in their lives. She said this while adding that growth is a necessity for any believer who wants to achieve a divine purpose in life. “Sometimes, we waste the resources God has blessed us with because we are not properly developed before the blessings come into our lives,” she said.

Still speaking from the scripture, the clergy explained that Jesus increased in wisdom, stature, and favour with God and men, stating that believers need to develop or improve intellectually and stop making excuses for mediocrity. In her words, “If we keep giving excuses, the world will move past us. There is no development process that is easy. Jesus knew He had an assignment, and He chose to submit Himself to discipline and tutoring. Whatever we are going through, let us know that God is with us. We are all on journeys, and as children of God, God has promised us He will never leave us nor forsake us even till the end of time.”

She continued, “Are you staying connected to God at this time? Are you still reading the Bible? Are you still singing spiritual hymns? Are you still meditating on the word of God? Beloved, we need to grow. Those situations that God has created around us are to enable the best of God that is in us—the treasures within us.”

Pastor Fayemi, in concluding the sermon, stated that everyone who grew in the scriptures did not grow on comfortable terrain. She, therefore, urged her listeners to never give up on themselves, no matter their circumstances, but to keep developing their capacity so as to fit into that future when it finally comes. “Comfort does not produce; it is discomfort that produces. Everything we need has been provided by God. Let’s lift up our eyes, focus on God, and come into His presence knowing that there is nothing He cannot do,” she urged.
