WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM PASTOR NOMTHI ODUKOYA
Using the experience of the abundant catch of fishes after obeying Jesus’ instruction as recorded in Luke 5:1-6 as an illustration, Pastor Nomthi at the February 14 Thursday Showers service said that just as other sea creatures that are not fishes are caught when nets are thrown into the water for a catch, other unnecessary things and distractions would be caught in life’s fishing quest, but we need to throw them all out.
According to her, just as a fisherman would separate all other things from a harvest of fish, which is the main catch, believers should also throw out whatever is not God’s will for them. In her words, “God has some fish for you; never settle for what is in your net that is not what you are looking for. Shrimps sometimes do smell like fish but it is not fish. Trust God through His words and launch your net again.”
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM PASTOR NOMTHI
Pastor Nomthi’s words of encouragement to the congregation at the February 17 Sunday service were based on Jesus’ promise to believers in John 14:14 that whatever they ask in His name would be granted to them. According to her, believers ought to always come to God’s presence with hearts of faith and with mouths filled with praise.
Rather than getting discouraged because of former requests not being granted, Pastor Nomthi admonished the church never to be weary and lazy in asking God until their joy is full. “Don’t be lazy in making your request known to God in the name of Jesus. Ask anyway, and continue to pick God’s promises, believing that every time a promise is picked, God will be faithful to honour His word. You will certainly receive and testify,” she said.
